Brent Petersen is an Senior Associate at BBP Law Inc. and holds an LLB degree from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).

Since joining the firm in 2013, Brent has been involved in the Oil and Gas division where he has prepared several Technical Co-Operation Permits and Exploration Right Applications in terms of South African Law for local and International Oil Companies (IOC). He has also assisted in the drafting of upstream agreements such as Non-Disclosure Data Agreements, Multi-Client Seismic Acquisition, Brokerage Agreements and Joint Operating Agreements (JOA) for IOC’s and a National Oil Company (NOC).

Brent has been actively involved in the development and drafting of tender guidelines and procedures for a NOC’s procurement and commercial tendering process. He has also assisted in the drafting and negotiation of oil and gas related agreements for an NOC offshore production project, which includes but not limited to, the drafting of various Deeds for IOC’s holding rights in Namibia, drafting of JOA’s, conducting specific due diligence investigations and ensuring legal compliance with various Namibian legislation.

In addition to the above, Brent has also assisted clients on a number of commercial matters which relate to Tax Law, Competition Law and specialised Property Law. He was also a member of the team awarded the 2014 Legal Advisor of the year Award by African Investor.

Claire Weldschidt is an admitted attorney and associate at BBP Law.  She holds a LLB degree from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth, situated in the Eastern Cape.  

Prior to joining the firm, she worked at the Legal Aid Mthatha Justice Centre in 2014 which is recognised as one of the biggest Justice Centres in South Africa.  During her time there she gained significant litigation experience in both Civil and Criminal law.  Her true passion is primarily assisting clients by educating and defending their rights in court.  Her experience includes but not limited to intricate stock theft, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, fraud and appearing for both opposed and unopposed bail applications.  Claire has built a niche in advising and representing indigent clients in criminal matters within the Magistrates Court of Dalasile, Ngcobo, and Mthatha, located in the Eastern Cape.  

Claire is a criminal law specialist and places value on integrity, loyalty and professionalism.

Lezelle Muller is an Associate at BBP Law.  She completed her LLB degree in 2012, from the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Cape Town, situated in the Western Cape. In 2013 she commenced her legal profession as Candidate Attorney by joining Africa and Associates, a boutique general litigation firm. During her two years with the firm she became an integral cornerstone to the litigation department, and developed a fervent passion for general civil litigation, ranging from contractual disputes, motor vehicle accidents, family law related matters and labour issues relevant to the everyday workplace. She does not shy away from challenges and revels in the face of adversity which is only rivalled by her resolve in having the Clients utmost best interest at heart.  Upon her conclusion of her two years of articles she left practice as she sought a way to balance the adversarial nature of the court room, and chose to do so by joining one of the largest mediation company’s in South Africa. During such time she became qualified as a legal mediator, resolving every day issues and disputes that the average South African is faced with,  and thus has all-embracing knowledge and practical experience in reaching resolutions in the most efficient and effective manner no matter how big or small the task at hand. She is furthermore an admitted Attorney of the High Court, and with the complementary tools acquired through mediation, she has now embarked on a journey to become part of BBP Law, seeking to harness her capabilities as litigant and mediator to holistically resolve disputes in the ever changing legal sphere.

Matthew matriculated from Plumstead High School in 2003. After leaving school he enrolled himself at Varsity College and obtained a certificate in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Having been exposed to the law during his Business Management studies, Matthew followed his passion of the law and enrolled himself at the University of South Africa (“UNISA”), where he successfully obtained an LLB bacholors degree in 2012. After graduation, he joined Parker Attorneys, as a candidate Attorney. The firm specialized in civil litigation in the Magistrate’s Court, Criminal Law and Labour Law. Matthew spent a year at the firm being exposed to these areas of the law.

Matthew then joined Randall Titus & Associates in May 2013, and continued his articles of clerkship with Randall Titus as his principle. Randall Titus & Associates specialised in commercial law and general litigation, in both the Magistrate’s Court and High Court. During Matthew’s time at Randall Titus & Associates, he was exposed to all areas of civil litigation and in particular to the processes and procedures of High Court litigation.

In June 2015, Matthew joined BBP Law Inc. and was admitted as an Attorney in August of 2016. Matthew currently practises withiin the rapidly expanding civil litigation department at BBP Law Inc., and continues to gain valuable legal experience in civil litgation, criminal law and family law.

Matthew places integrity and professionalism as paramount in the service to clients in all walks of life.



Rouen Thebus

After serving almost 10 years in the South African Navy as a combat officer, Rouen left to pursue a career in law and in 2011 obtained a LLB degree from the University of the Western Cape. He went on to do his articles of clerkship at J Naidoo Attorneys, gaining experience in general litigation and debt review matters. Upon being admitted as an attorney in February 2015, Rouen spent time being active in the social justice space. He has recently joined BBP Law as an associate to assist in their growing conveyancing and Oil and Gas divisions.

 



Nawaal Giddion

Nawaal has a LLB degree from the University of the Western Cape and graduated in 2008. She recently joined BBP Law as an associate, with right appearance in the High Court.

Nawaal is an experienced attorney with focused areas of practice being all aspects of family law, administration of deceased estates and labour law.

In her career, she spent two years at Retro-Legal as a senior legal advisor working under the auspices of Mr Envor Barros of the National Fishing Allied Workers Union (NCFAWU) where she represented and assisted union members at the CCMA.  In 2012 she served her articles with Schrueder Incorporated, where she was exposed to a wide range of litigation and practice areas, where she gained experience in family law, maintenance, and access to minor children, divorce, conveyancing, deceased estates and commercial law.  In 2016, she practiced at Parker Attorneys as an associate where she furthered her experience by litigating in her focused areas of practice.

Nawaal also advocated on the Voice of the Cape Radio Station where she maintains an active role in the community as a spokesperson for their rights.
